Why Use a Spotify QR Instead of Spotify's Built-In Code?

Spotify has its own "Spotify Codes" but they only scan from inside the Spotify app — the listener has to already have Spotify open and tap the search-camera icon. A standard QR code works with any phone's default camera and opens Spotify automatically. Less friction, more conversions.

Musicians use them on flyers, merch, and album packaging to drive plays. Podcasters put them in their show notes and on event signage. Bars and cafes use them to share their playlist so customers can keep listening at home.

Will the QR open the Spotify app or just the website?

If Spotify is installed on the user's phone, the link opens the app directly. Without Spotify, it opens the web player in their browser, where they can listen with a free account.

Can I make a QR for a specific song timestamp?

Spotify links don't support timestamps natively. You can use the standard track link, but the song always plays from the beginning.

Will the QR break if I delete a playlist or unlist a track?

Yes — the QR contains the Spotify URL of the specific item. If you delete a playlist, the QR will lead to an error. For long-life printed material, link to your artist profile or a stable curated playlist.

Can I style it with Spotify green?

Yes. Use the color picker to set the foreground to Spotify's brand green (#1DB954) on a black background, or any combination that matches your release art.

Does Spotify charge for this?
